This museum opened on 14 December 2001 in a building that dates back to the 18th Century. Previously known as the Gravina Palace this building once belonged to the Count of Lumiares and originally housed the 'Provincial Archives'. Work started on restoring this building in 1998 and wasn't completed until 2001.
The Museum displays art from the Alicante area from the 16th Century to the first decades of the 20th Century. MUBAG is split into sections and themes. It provides an overview of art in the Alicante region. The Visitor is invited to play an active role and there are audiovisual presentations. It also has a temporary exhibition room and MUBAG Gravina Fine Arts Museum holds concerts and recitals throughout the year.
Your older children will find the Museo de Bellas Artes Gravina interesting but I wouldn't take any children that are younger than 7 years old.
