Alicante TRAM
The Alicante TRAM is a modern mode of transport that whizzes around the ouskirts of Alicante whisking individuals onto their destination.
TRAM Metropolitano de Alicante/TRAM Metropolità d'Alacant operates in the Spanish city of Alicante and its surrounding area and is run by the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV). They also offer an Alicante night TRAM service.
The Alicante TRAM has different lines, starting at different points in Alicante.
Line 1 and 3 start from Mercado.
Line 4 starts from Puerta del Mar
There are 5 stops that surround the city, so at any one time you shouldn't be too far away from a TRAM stop.
The map below shows the different stops that surround Alicante city.

There are currently 4 active TRAM lines.
Line 1 runs between Alicante and Benidorm. Trams run a half-hourly reduced stop service where it connects with diesel services on line L9. L9 goes to Denia
Line 3 runs at a fifteen minute frequency as a stopping service to El Campello with one train an hour extended to Venta Lanuza
Line 4 runs from Alicante port (Puerta del Mar) to Av. Naciones (Playa de San Juan);
Line 9 runs from Benidorm to Denia. It is in the process of being updated to an electrified TRAM route. It is however an important part of the TRAM system because Line 1 goes to Benidorm and at Benidorm you can jump on Line 9 and travel to Altea, Calpe, Teulada, Gata and Denia (plus other stations).
Don't forget the Night Train
The future of the TRAM
Line 2, Line 5 and Line 8 are planned for the future but are not yet opened.
Below is a map of how the TRAM line will look in the future. As you can see it is thought that in the future L1, L3 and L2 (when it is operational) will start from the RENFE train station.
Eventually a TRAM line will run from Alicante to Alicante airport.
Further Information about Alicante TRAM

It is in both Spanish and English and it is really easy to work out. It is extremely informative, you can put in your point of origin, your destination and the approximate time of your journey. Then it will advise you which TRAM you require, how long it will take to get there and the nearest time it leaves that stop. You are also shown all the TRAM stops on a map.
